Applications for the cross-chambers Mentoring Scheme are now open
Applications are now open for the cross-chambers Mentoring Scheme supporting talented undergraduates and postgraduates from underrepresented groups at the Bar.
The scheme is supported by the Planning and Environment Bar Association and is run by ten sets of Chambers (39 Essex Chambers, Cornerstone Barristers, Falcon Chambers, Field Court Chambers, FTB Chambers, Gatehouse Chambers, Kings Chambers, Landmark Chambers, No5 Chambers and Tanfield Chambers).
The aim of the scheme is to encourage undergraduates and postgraduates from groups that are not well represented at the Bar to consider becoming barristers.
These underrepresented groups include women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBT+ people, those who spent time in care, people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, people who attended state schools (and in particular non-selective schools) and those who are in the first generation of their family to attend university.
Successful applicants will be offered between three and five one-to-one meetings with a mentor, an introductory workshop, a second workshop focusing on applications for pupillage, and at least one social event with other mentees and mentors.
