Kester Lees KC acted for Magdalene College in a third successful final injunction and possession order against protest encampments in Cambridge
On 27 June 2025, following the interim injunction secured within 24 hours of instruction on 23 June 2025, Kester Lees KC continued to act for Magdalene College in securing a possession order and a 14-month final injunction against a protestor encampment on the lawn at an entrance to Magdalene College in Cambridge, in order to allow their students to study and sit examinations without disturbance, and in order to protect an imminent construction project and the ongoing business of the College.
Kester was instructed by Mark Robertson of Bevan Brittan LLP.
Kester previously acted for both Trinity College and St John’s College in obtaining similar interim injunctions, which were made final for 12 months on 23 June 2025: [2025] EWHC 1577 (Ch). Kester also acted, together with Taylor Briggs, for the University of London in its successful claims for a possession order and an interim injunction in respect of a similar protest encampment in University of London v Harvie-Clark & Ors [2024] EWHC 2895 (Ch).
